Philadelphia is a great and historical place to visit or go to school. It is also where I was born. I got these shot upon visiting!
If you are going to college soon, Ivy league like UPenn or others like the University of the Arts, La Salle, Drexel, or Bryn Mawr etc., consider Philadelphia! There are many schools to choose from and many other wonderful experiences to have as well. You family and friends will make the trip to visit more often, but don’t be surprised if once they arrive you don’t see them too much!
Philadelphia is the hometown of soulful music, Neo-soul and Jill Scott. It is were Gamble and Huff brought to life many musical acts that the produced music which people partied to until they couldn’t party anymore. “South Street” was one of those tunes. Also, it’s an actual street where the hip and trendy come out to play. South street has Tower Record, great cheese steaks and Rita’s Water Ice ( If you’ve never had Rita’s you haven’t had the best Philly has to offer!)
Philadelphia is where the first home of the President resided before there was a Washington D.C. and a White House. It also has Independence Hall, which is where the Declaration of Independence was written as well as the Constitution. The Liberty Bell is also located in Philadelphia cracks and all! Here in Philly you can also find the homes of William Penn and Betsy Ross. Tours can be set up most days.
Besides it’s archaic architecture outdoors, Philadelphia also has amazing Museums; the Please Touch Museum being amongst the best and favorite for kids, while the Philadelphia Art Museum is a favorite for most adults!. The Philadelphia Art Museum is located along the beautiful Scukill River, where the boat houses light-up at night; it is also the location “Rocky’s triumphant run up the stairs” People take picture on those steps for that reason all day long! It is as immaculate on the inside as it is on the outside!
If you like to hit the clubs, Old City District is my favorite beat to walk near Market Street but there is also Deleware Ave. if you want a water view! Bring money for parking and on the weekend be prepared to walk unless you’ve got the cash to throw around; valet is always an option.
The people are great. The transportation is excellent and there’s lots to do! There are glamorous hotels, lots of cool places to shop, both traditional and trendy and all of the fine and fabulous food establishments you could want. Plus there’s a Starbucks on every corner or Cozy’s if you want to go local. You’ll love the people cause the people will love you, like your family because after all we are the “City of Brotherly Love”.
So…..Stop by, lay over, go shopping and have fun at Penn’s Landing!
See you soon!

Macy’s, the place were they filmed the movie, “Mannequin” circa 198? with Kim Catrell from Sex and the City.

Rocking the Ruffles!
As we transition from summer to fall, fashion styles change as well. What trend will be hitting the fall fashion scene? Ruffles, that’s what. Whether you have them on a dress, purse, or your favorite pair of boots, ruffles are what’s hot this season. Now when you’re wearing a shirt that has ruffles, you don’t need to wear a necklace. But, what accessories could you wear? well the ruffles itself are the accessory, now if you want to spice up your outfit a little, add a cute bracelet to the mix. When you’re wearing a piece with ruffles, you just want to wear one at a time you don’t want to drown yourself in to much of a good thing. The is feminine look is great for any occasion, whether your going to the prom or just out on a date, look your best in a ruffled dress.
Also, this season you’ll notice hemlines a lot shorter then previously seen. Normally when the economy goes down a little or hits rock bottom like it is now, the hemlines go up. This fun, flirty, sexy trend is what’s in for the fall season. If you want to buy something with ruffles these are the places to go to, www.shopbop.com, Banana Republic, and Bloomingdale’s, just to name a few.

Some designers that you should be checking out, such as Anna Tascha Larsson, a jewelry designer from Stockholm. If you’re a jewelry lover like I am and you love unique items like I do, then you’ll fall in love with her stuff. I must say, this designer has a very imaginative mind. She has created everything from 24 Carat iPOD Headphone Jewelery, Bow Tie Necklace, to the Happy Time necklace. I’m telling you her stuff is so creative, I’ve never seen anything like it. Now, some of her stuff isn’t for the faint at heart, in fact I wasn’t even able to stomach looking at it. At first glance, I think it’s art not jewelry, but besides that her stuff is amazing.

The next jewelry designer is Victoria Foutz, which by far is one of my favorite Irish jewelry designers. She has categorized her jewelry into categories such as celtic, contempo funk, evening chic, and shells and pearls just to name a few. Unfortunately, her jewelry is only found in a variety of exclusive boutiques in north/south Ireland. She also sells to selective outlets in Southern California. Although, she planning on expanding in selective European and U.S markets.
Now about her jewelry, I think every designer no matter what they design has a uniqueness about them and Victoria Foutz is no exception. Her collections are for teenagers as well as the everyday woman. Whether you need something for your prom or just a night out on the town, Victoria has it. Her jewelry is absolutely beautiful, she uses a lot of color, which something I really like. She’s also very creative, I can honestly say as a jewelry designer myself, I would have never thought to do some of the designs she has done. Her stuff I think gives a woman the feeling of “Hey I look good today”, just putting on the littlest accessory can make all the difference.
But, don’t take my word on it about these designers. Check them out for yourself.

So if your anything like me, you love music but hate carrying your iPOD for fear of losing it. Well, fear no more, the newest technological fashion trend, which hasn’t hit the scene yet, is the iPOD shuffle bracelet. Designed by Isamu Sanada’s, this is a great accessory for anyone who wants to listen to their favorite tunes and be fashionable at the same time. This new innovation in iPOD’s does the same a regular iPOD, it can download your music playlist and it uses bluetooth technology to stream music to your wireless headphones. I predict that once this hits the market, it will be the must have fashion/tech trend. Everyone is going to want this, in fact I know a couple of people who would just buy it and use it to accessorize an outfit. Also, this is a gadget for the person on the go. I know when I lived in the city, all I saw were people with their iPOD’s. Whether they were students walking to class, people walking to work, or people who like to listen to music as they exercise it’s definitely a trend that will never go out of style. But, as we know trends always get better as the years go by and this trend is no exception. Having this as a bracelet, I think makes things a lot more easier. All you have to do, is put it on and go, what’s easier then that. And as I mentioned before, I know some of my friends will accessorize their outfits with it. So heed my warning, if this does come out on the market, it will most likely be quite expensive, so make sure you save up. You don’t want to go broke just because you had to have the newest trend.

Dreams make life worth living!
Everyone from the time they are little has a dream of what they want to be and what they want to do when they grow up. Some people want to work with animals, some want to be a teachers, some want to work in business, and some want to work in the fashion or music industries. When your towards the end of your high school career, you have to choose a college that has your major, once that is done your on way to achieving your dream. But, there are those people in your life that will try and bring you down. They’ll tell you that what you want to do or be isn’t possible or your dream is never going to happen. My advice, don’t listen to them, follow your dream no matter where it leads you and sometimes that dream may change, but the drive is still the same.
If your a song writer and singer and people are always telling you it’s just a pipe dream, your never gonna make it, start out small and work your way to big. Start at different music venues in your area such as, acoustic nights, sessions at a bar that has musicians come to perform their original songs. Get yourself on the set list for these things and showcase your talent, you can get your name out there and get some fans. Work your way from there, start utilizing the popular networking sites such as, myspace, facebook, bebo, and twitter. Put your music up so that people can find you and always update, that way if someone who doesn’t know you and has never seen you perform, they can check you out and hopefully you’ll get a new fan. If your passion is fashion, there are so many jobs out there for you. You just need to find the job and a place that suits you whether you want to stay in your hometown, or go to New York, L.A, or somewhere in Europe like London, Paris, Italy, or Ireland, don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t do it. If you love children and you want to be a teacher, there is no reward greater then knowing you helped someone through your teaching. If business is what your interested in there are so many ways to go about it. Find what you area your interested in and go for it.
The reason I’m wrote this blog is because I have dreams like everyone else and people are trying to tear me down. But, I’m not going let it happen and neither should you.

There are two different ways to do college, actually going to the school or doing it online, which one is better. Well, that all depends on the person, I have been on both ends of the spectrum. I have gone to school and sat in a classroom, but I decided that wasn’t for me, now I am finishing up my classes online. Like I said, it all depends on the person, for me being in the classroom was not for me. I would get distracted, bored, and if I was tired, I would just sit there and daydream. All this in the end made me miss out on what I was supposed to be learning. For me online classes was the best option, I’m more motivated, I’m learning more and I have a 4.0, which something I thought would never happen.
There a couple of pros about being at the school and being the classroom. One of them is, you meet new people and it’s always good to socialize. Also, if your living at school that’s always a plus. And if you have a extreme fear of talking in front of people like I do, it can help you get over that fear. A con is you can get distracted, bored, and unmotivated very easily, which means when you leave that classroom you haven’t learned a thing. One of the pros with online classes is, you can learn essentially at your own pace and you don’t have to get up for an early class, which is nice. Another pro is that your saving money, meaning, your living at home which saves on food and any other essential you would have needed for your dorm. A con is that your not meeting new people or forging new friendships and your not going to get over your fear of talking front of people. When making the decision, make sure you choose the one that is right for you.

Some people are probably wondering what’s going to be in this summer, well that’s what I’m here for. First is color, what colors will people be wearing this summer. Well here they are blush, lilac, pristine white with a hint of dark blue, purple, red, ochre, indigo, silver and gold. Here are some more colors grays, sky blue, green, tangerine, yellows, and browns.
Now when it comes to accessories everything is big and bold this summer such as, bold belts, big earring, lots of bangles, big necklaces and colorful bags are also in, the more color the better. So ladies when your shopping make sure you look for big, bold pieces to go with your outfit. Whether your hanging out with some friends or going out for night, dress to impress. Make people ask themselves, where did she get that?
